Flight Attendant Career

Before I decided to work in a hotel, I have thought of applying for a flight attendant position because I love travelling. But I chicken out and did not apply in the flight attendant school, being afraid of not meeting the required height. I still wonder if I would be able to have a flight attendant career should I have applied for it. If you are interested in being a flight attendant, you should go to The International Air and Hospitality Academy located in Vancouver, WA where it offers Airline/Travel Specialist as one of the programs. As a flight attendant is required to travel and odd hours, and frequently to foreign countries, you would need to be trained where you would be professional and confident for entry-level positions in the airline and travel industries. All you need to be is above 17 years of age to be eligible to apply.By entering the flight attendant school, it will give you the opportunity to meet with other colleagues who come from different background. To find out more about training in the school, you wouldn’t want to miss the flight attendant blog which provides you with the insight of being a flight attendant.

My New Home

 hse.jpg

Hi Friends,

I have moved to a new home, and it will be the same blog that I have, except for the domain. I changed the domain for personal reason but I do hope that you would quickly hop over. Don’t forget to change in your Feedburner or Google Reader and Blogroll as this old domain will cease soon.

As for my food blog, it is still up and running until I announce a surprise. I will still cook and hope you will still come back for some simple recipes of mine.

And if you don’t visit me at my new domain, I would be very sad, stress and probably fall into depression as well. Then you would want to pay for my psychiatrist fees as you feel guilty for not visiting me here. Till then, see you there!

Shades And Blinds

 shades.jpg

After years of staring at the same curtains and blinds in our house, I have decided to change some of them. I would like a darker color for my mini blinds in our family hall upstairs. The current one is too pale and boring; perhaps a dark maroon color would bring up our mood whenever we are up there. I am not going for the wooden blinds but metal ones instead.

There are three types of shutters that are popular lately, so it would be nice for my kitchen window since it has nothing on it since we moved in. I don’t like people looking into our or kitchen and dining hall, so a plantation shutters made of vinyl as it is good for my wet and humid kitchen.

Now that Iris is older and can understand a lot of what I say to her, hubby and I plan to move her to her room which has been a guest room for my mom. I have been telling her that once I painted her room and change her window curtain to nice ones, she can sleep there all by herself already. But her current curtain is a temporarily ones, so I might get her a roman shades. There are so many colors to choose from and a classic design will do at affordable price. If I can just order it from shadesshuttersblinds.com, I would be offered a cut sample of what I have chose in order to have a feel of the material. So, now I am lost of choosing the colors, designs, material and types of curtains and shades. You know, shades and blinds are very convenient. It is very easy to wash it or wipe with a damp cloth if it is not too dirty. I am always lazy when it comes to washing my big and heavy curtains. By the way, you don’t want to miss their winter sale now!

O Premium Waters

Recently, I have been searching for a water filter for our household. We already have one outside our house, but we need a good one for drinking purpose near the sink. The water in our area is not very clean, and hubby has to do a backwash every two weeks if not I will have to wash my face with dirty water.  If we get o premium waters, we can be guaranteed that their water is purer than any other brands.  I will wait for their soon to be launching reverse osmosis systems and water softener for our house. I won’t need to boil any drinking water soon. Have you gotten purified water for your household yet?

Why I Need A Maid

Before Iris was born, I had no maid at all, and not even a part timer. A month before she was born, we got a dump, slow, stubborn live in maid from Kupang. My advice, don’t get a maid from Kupang, as per me and my friend too. Anyway, after 14 months of working with us, I sent her back cause I could not take her attitude anymore. Since then, I started doing everything all by myself except for hubby’s clothes which were sent to laundry for ironing. Later on, MIL and my mom started helping me with marketing and I did some myself sometimes on weekends when hubby is around to watch our kids or during weekdays where I will bring Iris with me or if my mom is home, I will leave Iris at her place while I go marketing. 8 months after my maid left, I started to have eczema on my thumb. Then followed by a few more fingers. The eczema went away only coming back after 2 or 3 days. I have seen a few GP and also a skin specialist. I can be only given a steroid cream which I apply a few times a day and when it stops itching, I don’t apply the cream. I have tried many lotions and of course it didn’t help much. If I apply too much and long, my skin will dry up and crack and that hurts! Now i have to constantly use plastic and rubber gloves together when my fingers come to contact with detergent.

Ok, enough my of blah blah blah…reasons I want to hire a maid are:

1. My eczema problem as above.

2. Hubby getting lazy in washing dishes already.

3. If hubby and I go out for dinner, etc, mom can just come over to watch our kids and leave the dish washing, etc to maid. If hubby and I travel, kids and maid will go over to PIL’s house and maid can watch my kids closely cause in laws will be too busy to watch them as they have other things to do and also two more grandchildren to watch. The last time we left our kids there when we traveled to China, Ian fell face down and had a big bump on his forehead.

4. We are paying our part timer RM360 per month to come in twice a week for 7 hours. Not a good deal even though she is great at cleaning and very fast.

5. I can spend more time with my kids especially now that Ian is older and need me to teach him more. My work at home will only be cooking and taking care of our kids. Oh, and of course hubby too!

6. I don’t need to do the house chores even at night now. My part timer comes in the morning for 3-4 hours only. Afternoon? I have to do everything myself.

7. Every time my part timer comes, my mom has to come to our house to watch the part time maid when I go fetch Ian back from school. She doens’t get to go to cell group and don’t know what senior citizen dingy she mentioned the other day on Tuesday and Thursday. Even the old newspaper collector can’t get hold of my mom for months and old newspaper have been piling up on her car porch. (Newspaper man comes on Tuesday and Saturday). Everytime my mom comes over, she will help me with marketing too, and I pity her.

The down side is that we won’t have the privacy that we have enjoyed for more than a year. Having a stranger at home with us will be kind of weird and I have to spend less again cause expenses will be higher. My current part timer is a very good cleaner and fast. She can iron 17 clothes in an hour! Not bad! But, one of Iris’ dresses and hubby’s watch are missing. Hubby can simply put his belongings everywhere. Either the part timer stole it or he misplaced. I have yet to clear my wardrobe, and hubby said the dress might be in between our clothes.

So friends, do you support me to get a live in maid or have any better suggestions?

Trip Is Cancelled

hk2.jpg

If you remember my post on my meeting up with a friend, I have mentioned that both of us are planning a trip to somewhere. Well, our shopping trip is now cancelled after hubby told me about the outbreak in Hong Kong! We initially thought of going there perhaps in August for the summer sale, and I have already contacted my Hong Kong friends and also Tot’s Humor. I guess I have to postpone this trip for another 4 yrs. My friend is getting married in a few months time, and I believe she would want to start a family soon. So, I just have to wait till her kids are older then only we can go Hong Kong. I won’t have the chance to carry my Hong Kong’s friend’s first child which is supposed to pop out from his mother’s big belly anytime soon. Arrghh!!!

Hubby: When are you going to Hong Kong? May?

 Me: Why? Around August

Hubby: You don’t need to go anymore

Me: (Thought he can’t take leave around that month, so he can’t watch our kids). Why ah?

Hubby: I heard from the radio just now that there is an outbreak in Hong Kong. Some school children are sick and one died.

Me: “Sigh”… (Thinking of Tot’s Humor and my friends in Hong Kong)

Hubby: It seems that they do not know what outbreak yet. Could be SARS, bird flu or something new. Bird flu shows signs of mutation.

Me: Meaning

Hubby: Human to human transmission, unlike last time.

Me: (Paused for a while..) Sure or not? You want to sabotage my trip is it?

Hubby: No, its true… (Then went on to read the newspaper and find the article on it)

Sei lor, so I really can’t go to HK? My friend and I planned to go to MATA fair to check out the packages. So I called her up.

Friend: Char Boh

Me: Wei, we no need go to Hong Kong already la

Friend: Why?

Me: I think we go maybe in the next 4 yrs time. After you get married and have kids, then only we go la.

Friend: (Sound serious) Why ah?

Me: There is an outbreak in HK. blah blah blah…. maybe we can go Bangkok. See how lor.

Friend: Ok la. So we don’t need to go to MATA fair lor, since Bangkok we can arrange ourselves.

Me: Yes lor… See how lor..

Friend: Ok thanks ah.

Me: Bye….

I did some research on where to stay and shop, especially Tung Chung Citygate Outlet that my friend said I should go to. Have been considering Air Asia or Free & Easy Package from travel Agents. And just now I saw Air Asia offering to fly to HK for only RM45. ‘Hitting head on keyboard’. Maybe we can just go up to Genting for a game or two.. But also cannot la, Genting got a lot of China dolls, don’t know if they got such disease or not or… Hmm…. Duh!

The Old Good Time

I still remember this recipe to this day cause this lemon chicken, the western style, was the main course we cooked when I was in Uni. As I was in hospitality management, going in and out of the kitchen is a norm and part of the courses we had to take. This particular course was on every Tuesday, where we would be in different group, and take turns on being the GM, dish washer, front line cook, waitress, etc. For my group, we were to come out with a full course dinner for outside diners to come to our restaurant in our Uni. From appetizer to dessert, it will all be on our own. Then we had to submit in the ingredients that we need to use, servings, etc to our professor a week before (if I am not mistaken). So this Lemon Chicken was our main course for that particular week. We prepared and cooked from scratch and that’s a lot of hard work. It started from 2pm to 10pm, after dinner. Long day…

I have tried cooking this a few times after I came home, and today I decided to cook for our kids to try. It is very easy, and come here for the recipe if you are interested. It serves well with Pilaf Rice or even our steamed white rice.

Where To Buy Rare Coins

 rare-coins.gif

Hubby and I like buying gold and old coins to keep. So far, we have only bought the maple leaf gold coin from Canada and some collections from my in laws. We want other countries’ gold coins but can’t find in any in our local jewelry shops. Our only hope will be Monaco Rare Coin where it has many coins for us to choose from. Being part of the Monex family of companies, Monaco is a rare coin dealer which offers a unique, vast and impressive array of resources for investors and collectors alike like us. From their website, we can view their gallery and compare their pricing of different years of the coins. I can’t wait to tell hubby that we have finally found a coin dealer!

Fell Off The Bed

iris-fell-off-bed.jpg

iris-fell-off-bed-2.jpg

A few days ago, Iris fell off the bed because her pillow was too near to the foot of the bed. When hubby put them to nap, he thought I wanted the pillow to be that far away. Half way sleeping, hubby heard a cry suddenly! When I got back, she told me that she fell off the bed. Last night, when I was about to tuck her in, she told me “My(I) fall down in the floor. Like this (then turned lying on her stomach), like this”. She kept on showing me and I can’t resist myself from snapping her doing that. I told her to stop and maintain that poise to let me take photos, she even did it. Ha ha! I showed hubby the pictures today, and he also laughed!!
